About
The firm

A small firm,
built for serious work.

Established June 2012Miami, FloridaFL Sunbiz L12000074086

We exist to help the people who serve Florida communities do that work better.

Sunshine Advisory Group is the public-sector advisory practice of Sunshine Happy & Healthy Living, LLC — a Florida company in continuous operation since June 2012.

Our clients are elected officials, municipal and county staff, public agencies, and the nonprofits that operate alongside them. They serve residents every day; our role is to make that service clearer, more substantive, and more durable.

We are deliberately small. Engagements are led by principals — not handed down to juniors — and informed by research, regulatory, and legislative disciplines that demand precision in language and evidence behind every claim. That same standard governs how we work with municipal clients: clear documentation, defensible methodology, and outcomes that can be measured.

We turn down work we are not right for, and we tell clients when an outside specialist would serve them better.

Aymee Perez, PhD

Founder · Florida · Established 2012

Aymee leads the firm. Her career has been built on translating complex, technical material into clear, actionable communication — the same discipline that public-sector work demands when an ordinance, a program rollout, or a board memo has to be both accurate and intelligible to non-specialists.

She was a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Miami from 2001 to 2010, with peer-reviewed publications across gene regulation, oncology, and cell biology.

She then moved into clinical and translational research operations — as Phase I Research Coordinator at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (2012–2018), Director of Research at Research Centers of America (2018–2019), and Senior Clinical Studies Scientist at Beckman Coulter Life Sciences (2019–2022) — building documentation, regulatory submissions, and stakeholder reporting for complex, highly regulated programs.

Since 2022 she has served as a Senior Medical Writer at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, producing clinical study protocols, regulatory submissions, and patient-facing materials. She is also a certified Holistic Health Coach (Institute for Integrative Nutrition, 2011) and has operated Sunshine Happy & Healthy Living, LLC as her independent practice since June 2012.

That combined background — research rigor, regulatory documentation, stakeholder communication, and small-business operation — is what she brings to every engagement.

How we work
Method
  1. i
    Intake
A 30-minute conversation to understand what's actually getting in the way — not a sales call.
  2. ii
    Written scope
A one- to two-page proposal with deliverables, timeline, and fixed pricing. No surprise invoices.
  3. iii
    Disciplined delivery
Regular check-ins, a single point of contact, and work product the client can put their name on.
